Our Mission Statement

We are an active globally-minded group from Remuera Intermediate School that are concerned about the important issues of today. We align ourselves with the values program of our school and endeavour to make a difference to our school and our community. We will organise special days throughout the year to build awareness of global issues such as the environment and peace. We will concentrate on service and being of benefit to others. Our time to change the world is at our Monday lunchtime meetings with Mr Zemke.

Everyone is welcome to ask us for advice, make positive comments or suggestions to help us improve.

Friday 24 August 2012

We will be celebrating this important day in a few weeks time

Sing:

Some words they can't be spoken only sung
So hear a thousand voices shouting love

There's a place, there's a time
In this life when you sing what you are feeling
Find your feet, stand your ground
Don't you see
Right now the world is listening to what we say

Sing it louder, sing it clearer
Knowing everyone will hear you,
Make some noise, find your voice tonight
Sing it stronger, sing together
Make this moment last forever
Old and young
Shouting love tonight

To sing we've had a lifetime to wait
And see a thousand faces celebrate

You brought hope, you brought light
Conquered fear, it wasn't always easy
Stood your ground, kept your faith
Don't you see
Right now the world is listening to what we say

Sing it louder, sing it clearer
Knowing everyone will hear you,
Make some noise, find your voice tonight
Sing it stronger, sing together
Make this moment last forever
Old and young
Shouting love tonight

Some words they can't be spoken only sung
To hear a thousand voices shouting love
And light and hope

Young people reacting to real video of bullying and then discussing bullying and its detrimental effects.
Warning: There are some real violent images and also important messages shared

Wavin' Flag was K'naan's song first, but then, Bob Ezrin got together with 50 Canadian artists to re-make "Wavin' Flag". It was made to help the earthquake in Haiti. TO help, go to iTunes and buy Wavin' Flag. All money goes toward Haiti.
Lyrics with artists:
[All]
When I get older
I will be stronger
Theyll call me freedom
Just like a wavin flag
[K'naan]
Born from a throne
Older than Rome
But violent prone
Poor people zone
[Nelly Furtado]
But its my home
All I have known
[Sam Roberts]
Where I got grown
but now its gone
[Avril Lavigne]
Out of the darkness
in came the carnage
threatening my very survival
[Pierre Bouvier of Simple Plan]
Fractured my streets
and broke all my dreams
[Tyler Connolly of Theory of a Deadman]
Feels like defeat to wretched retreat
[All]
So we strugglin
[Kardinal Offishall]
Fighting to eat
[All]
And we wonderin
[Kardinal Offishall]
If well be free
[Jully Black]
We can not wait for some faithful day
its too far away so right now I say
[All - Chorus]
When I get older
I will be stronger
theyll call me freedom
Just like a waving flag
And then it goes back (x3)
[Lights]
So many wars, settling scores

[Deryck Whibley of Sum 41]
All that weve been through
and now there is more

[Serena Ryder]
I hear them say love is the way

[Jacob Hoggard of Hedley]
Love is the answer thats what they say

[Emily Haines]
But were not just dreamers
of broken down grievers

[Hawsley Workman]
Our hand will reach us
and then itll see us

[Drake]
This cant control us
no it cant hold us down

[Chin Injeti]
We gon pick it up even though we see them
[All]
struggling

[Pierre Lapointe]
Au nom de la survie (In the name of survival)

[All]
and we wondering

[Pierre Lapointe]
Battant pour nos vie (Fighting for our lives)
[All]
We patiently wait
for some other day

[Fefe Dobson and Esthero]
thats too far away so right now I say
[All Chorus x2]
[Drake - Rapping]
How come when the media stops covering
and theres little help from the government
we forget about the people still struggling
and assume that its really all love again, naw
see we dont have to wait for things to break apart
if you werent involved before its never too late to start
you probably think that its too far to even have to care
well take a look at where you live, what if it happened there?
You have to know the urge to make a change lies within
and we can be the reason that they see their flag rise again
[Nikki Yanofsky]
When I get older
I will be stronger
theyll call me freedom

[Nikki Yanofsky, Drake and Matt Mays] Just like a wavin flag
[Matt Mays and Drake]
and then it goes back

[Justin Nozuka and Drake]
and then it goes back

[Nikki Yanofsky]
Then it goes back
[Chorus All x2]
[Justin Bieber]
When I get older
When I get older
I will be stronger
just like a waving flag.
